Selena Quintanilla......................Selena was born April 16 1971 in Corpus Christi Texas . Selena was the eldest of three children born to Marcela and Abraham Quintanilla. Selena began her career in the age of eight in a group that was formed by Abraham Quintanilla. Selena played lead guitar in the band, along with her older brothers Abraham junior playing base, and sister Suzette performing drums. Selena acted as the singer. Selena Y Los Dino band performed at many bars, wedding fairs, restaurants with her older brothers and sisters. Selena did not have much time in her childhood because the band needed a lot of time. However, their father Abraham was determined to inspire the band and eventually they were passionate musicians. Abraham senior was a member of Los Dinos, the band which started the whole thing. Selena Y Los Dinos officially started in the year 1981. The band was part of the Quintanilla family's business and main source of income. The Quintanilla family was determined to be successful despite difficult times and financial difficulties at first. The perseverance paid off by the late 1980's Selena Y Los Dinos gained popularly in the western states. Selena's first success came in 1986 when she won prizes for Female Vocalist of The Year as well as Performer of The Year at the Tejano music awards. Selena Y Los Dinos gained recognition and fame after that. They appeared on numerous Spanish-language TV shows including El Show De Johnny Canales Every Sunday, and Sabado Gigante.
